Throughout this time, there have been no claims against errors and omissions insurance. The primary objective is to provide personalized insurance advice and service that meets your needs and supports your long-term financial security.

Paul Barbour is a licensed life insurance agent in the Province of Ontario and is regulated by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA).

As an independent insurance adviser, Paul Barbour can offer clients a comprehensive range of insurance products from multiple providers, including:

2. Business Model and Distributor Relationship

Paul Barbour operates as an independent licensed insurance representative. All insurance business is processed through Gryphin Insurance, which serves as the Managing General Agent (MGA). Gryphin provides administrative support and back-office services for the practice. Insurance companies may pay performance-based bonuses on commission volume, which forms part of the overall compensation in addition to standard commissions.

3. Professional Licensing and Continuing Education

To maintain insurance licensing, Paul Barbour is required to complete mandatory continuing education requirements. These educational requirements are fulfilled through attendance at industry seminars, professional development programs, and relevant conferences that enhance the ability to serve clients effectively.

4. Compensation Structure

Monetary Compensation: Upon completion of an insurance transaction, Paul Barbour receives commission-based compensation from the insurance company. Commission rates are generally calculated as a percentage of the premium paid and vary by product type and insurance provider.

Non-Monetary Compensation: Paul Barbour may be eligible to attend industry conferences sponsored by insurance companies based on sales volume. Promotional incentives that could influence product recommendations are not accepted. Conference attendance is limited to business-related educational seminars that provide value to clients, with accommodations provided within Ontario.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Paul Barbour is required to declare any circumstances that may prevent the provision of impartial advice. Should any conflict of interest arise in relation to services provided, clients will be notified immediately. Product recommendations are made based on suitability for individual client needs rather than commission structure.

6. Privacy and Information Management

Information Collection: In the course of providing insurance services, Paul Barbour collects financial, medical, and personal information necessary to assess insurance needs and process applications. This information may be obtained from various sources, including: direct client communications, application documents, credit reporting agencies, financial institutions, and references provided by clients.

Use of Information: By applying for insurance products, clients authorize Paul Barbour and Gryphin Insurance to collect and maintain information for the purposes of administering insurance products, fulfilling legal and regulatory obligations, and sharing information with third- party service providers and insurance companies as necessary for applications.

Client Rights: Clients have the right to access their information on file at any time, review its accuracy, and request amendments as appropriate. To exercise these rights or request that information not be shared for the purposes outlined above, please contact Paul Barbour directly. Even after the professional relationship ends, client information may be retained as required by law or for the purposes described herein.

7. Segregated Funds Disclosure

Segregated fund contracts may be held in the nominee name of Gryphin Insurance. Please be aware that holding contracts in nominee name may impact creditor protection features of the segregated fund contract.

8. Medical Information Consent

In the event of a declined application or additional premium requirements for life or disability coverage, clients grant permission for Paul Barbour to discuss confidential medical, financial, and personal investigation information with insurance providers listed in this disclosure. This authorization includes the transfer of confidential information to insurance companies licensed in Ontario for further evaluation and underwriting purposes.

9. Independent Transaction

Clients are not required to transact additional business with Paul Barbour as a condition of any insurance transaction. Each product recommendation stands independently based on its merit and suitability for client needs.

10. Electronic Communications (CASL Compliance)

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) requires explicit consent for electronic communications. By providing contact information, clients consent to receive electronic communications from Paul Barbour's office, which may include:

  • Policy updates and renewal notices
  • Industry newsletters and financial information
  • Relevant news articles pertaining to insurance needs
  • General messages about services
